I'm wondering if you have a certain CD or LP in stock. Can you tell me?
Of course! While nothing beats actually browsing records in the shop, we'll gladly let you know in advance if we have an item in stock. The best way to get a fast response is to call us at 801-364-2611.

I want to play at your store. How can I set up a show at Slowtrain?
Please click here for full details about playing a show at Slowtrain. We do not make exceptions to these rules so please don't make us tell you no more than once if you don't meet the qualifications.

How can I sell my music in your store?
Local bands click here for consignment information. We do not set up consignment with non-local bands. We have tried in the past and it just doesn't work out for us or the artist. If your music is available through a distributor feel free to leave us a promo copy of your album and distributor info and if we think your album will sell at Slowtrain we can order it in from them.

Do you buy used CDs or LPs that I don't want anymore?
YES! In order to keep selling used CDs and LPs we need to get them from you! CDs we accept for in-store credit only due to burdensome regulations from the state legislature. LPs or vinyl we accept for cash or in-store credit (you get slightly less bang for your buck if you choose cash, but we still think we pay the best in town).

Our inventory has more of a lean towards independent music, but we are more broad with the used music we carry. So please bring your items by for us to take a look at. Pricing varies depending on the title and condition of the item. Newish CDs/LPs that are in great condition we generally give $5 trade and $4 cash...but that is just to give you an idea, it will vary. If you have a lot of items, please be prepared to leave your items with us for a day or two so we can take the appropriate time to go through them and give them our full attention. We'll call you when we've gone through everything and have a price for you.

Can I hang a poster for a show or event at Slowtrain? Can I leave flyers or handbills?
We do have limited space to hang posters. You can hang a poster on the front portion of our counter or on the bulletin board at the entrance of the shop. A couple of rules: 1) You must bring your own tape. We do not supply tape to anyone to hang posters. 2) Do not cover up another poster. If you cover up another event poster yours will be removed and recycled immediately.

We do not currently have space for handbills or flyers. You are welcome to tape one up or pin one on the bulletin board.

Can I special order a CD or LP?
YES! We love special orders! You can special order CDs, DVDs, LPs that are still in-print and accessible to us. We don't charge extra - in fact, if the item you want is in stock with our distributor and you pay in advance you can get 10% off. Otherwise you can pay full price when you pick up your item. We'll take down your phone number and call you once it arrives. Most items arrive within 10 days (usually much sooner), although some items are out of stock and can take much longer to arrive. So next time you're in the shop and don't see exactly what you want, please ask us to order it in!

Can I pre-order a CD or LP?

ABSOLUTELY! We are happy to pre-order any upcoming CD, DVD or LP release for you. Simply place your request with us and we will make sure a copy is here for you on it's official release date. It doesn't get much easier than that, does it?

Does Slowtrain sell record players?
Yes, we sell new record players, aka turntables. We stay away from used players since we can't guarantee the quality. We offer new record players from Pro-ject, Crosley, and Numark. Prices start at just $80. Click her for our turntable brochure.

What is Slowtrain's return policy?

We only offer store credit for returns- NO CASH REFUNDS. In order return an item we require you to have your receipt and bring the item back within 10 days of purchase. Any new items must be sealed in order to make a return. All returns are made at our discretion- we reserve the right to refuse returns.

I need tickets for a specific live show. How can I find out if Slowtrain has tickets?
Slowtrain carries MOST tickets for Urban Lounge, Kilby Court, The State Room, and In the Venue. We only accept cash for tickets, so stop by the ATM before coming to get tickets. We do charge a $1 service fee, that is included in all posted prices. You can find the most current list of tickets we sell by clicking here. This page is automatically updated each time we add new tickets into our system.

I've heard you have a venue now called Slowtrain's Subterranean, how can I book my event there? Can I rent the space?
Slowtrain's Subterranean is the nickname we've given our basement. It is an extension of our shop to be used to support and expand Slowtrain's efforts as a community based record store in Salt Lake City. It is not a music venue. It is not an event space you can rent. The only events held in Slowtrain's Subterranean will be determined by us - they will be events that we think are important and beneficial to Slowtrain. Please do not ask about booking any show or event in the basement.
